Narayaneeyam, a poetical hymn of rare devotional fervour, is the condensation of Srimad Bhagavatam. Consisting of 1034 verses, it was composed by Narayana Bhattatiri, one of the celebrated Sanskrit poets of Kerala in the 16th century CE.

Swami Tapasyananda, who was a scholarly monk and a Vice-President of the Ramakrishna Order, has rendered a lucid and free yet faithful translation of Narayaneeyam. His translation is based on the Malayalam works of Sri P. S. Anantanarayana Sastri and Sri Vatakumkur Raja Raja Varma.

The mastery Introduction by Swami Tapasyananda will enable the reader to have a grasp of the specific bhakti emphasis of Srimad Bhagavatam, which is very essential for the proper understanding of the text, especially of the Krishna episode forming its core. The introduction and the appendices detail about the life and works of Narayana Bhattatiri and the anecdotes about him and the temple of Guruvayoor.

This book will attract the reader to a great Bhakti tradition of India.
